I am a writer, photographer, and book lover who reads for pleasure in my free time.
I give my honest opinions on books I receive from a variety of sources, including those:
- purchased from independent bookstores as well as chains.
- checked out from the library, picked up from a little free library, or loaned to me by friends and family.
- received as ARCs or galleys through Net Galley, Book Sirens or directly from the author or publicist.
Receiving a free ARC of a book does not influence my review. If I have received a free copy of the book, it is noted in my review. If I have a personal connection to the author in real life, I will also note this in my review.
I accept review requests via Twitter or email at flashmama80@gmail.com. I review print, e-books, and audiobooks. I use both the Apple Books and Kindle app e-readers and can accept .pdf or .mobi files.
I use a five-star system for reviewing books, and post reviews for books that I can give at least 2 stars or above. My reviews focus on the strengths of the book and typically include whether I would read another book by the author.
I read and enjoy many genres, particularly thrillers, mysteries, sci-fi, dystopian, historical fiction, women’s fiction, and young adult (YA). For audiobooks, I prefer to listen to non-fiction, such as true crime, autobiographies, memoirs, or motivational books.
I often illustrate my reviews with an original photograph taken by me that shows the book’s cover or relates to the book’s theme.
If I have accepted a book for review, I will read and review it as quickly as I can. However, I work full time, run a landscape photography business, and usually have more than one book going, so please be patient with me.
